June 2010
In June 2010, NASA presented Dr. Steve Paley of AZ Technology with the Marshall Space Flight Center Technology Transfer Award for his contributions in the field of polymers and ionic liquids to advance conversion coating chemistries. Dr. Paley was presented the award at a ceremony at the MSFC. Congradulations Steve! Dr. Paley has been with AZ Technology posted at the Marshall Space Flight Center since 2003. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics, a M.S. in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Materials Science all from the University of Alabama-Huntsville. Dr. Paley's expertise in organic chemistry and materials science drive his research in polymers and optical materials. Current focus areas include conversion of cellulose from waste paper/plant materials and developing "green" polymer blends/copolymers as high transparency, low optical dispersion materials. Dr. Paley also has experience as a Project Scientist for flight experiments and as Technical Monitor for several ground-based investigations. |
