AZ Technology Introduces a New High Temperature, Low Emittance Metallic Gray Electrostatic Dissipative (ESD) Paint/Coating Designed For Use On Spacecraft Surfaces Exposed to Vehicle Launch and the Space Environment.

November 25 2008

On November 25, 2008, AZ Technology officially announces its most recent development in spacecraft paints/coatings, AZ-3700-LSW. Continuing its ongoing innovative research efforts in advanced materials and paints/coatings, AZ personnel have developed a new paint/coating designed for use on spacecraft surfaces exposed to the deleterious effects of vehicle launch and the space environment. This metallic gray paint/coating has very low thermal emittance (typically 0.25 to 0.33 ε_t) with the capacity to exposure to temperatures up to 600 C. In addition, the coating has tailorable surface resistivity, solar absorptance and thermal emittance. Design objectives met were to produce an electrostatic dissipative low emittance coating with an alpha over emittance value close to one, as depicted in the following reflectance curve.
